Born in
1976, in Athens, Greece. He studied classical guitar and oud. In 2001 he got
his degree in traditional music with a specialization in oud, under the
tutorship of Nikos Grapsas.
Concurrently, along with the group Oberon# -for which he wrote the music and
the lyrics- he toured around various parts of Greece and released the CD
"Oberon# -Miden Ena" (Virgin, Nov. 2000). The CD comprises of a combination
of electronic beats, ethnological components and guitar passages.
After the
break up of the group, in 2001, his interest took a turn towards computer
electronic music. Under the guise of "mecha/orga", YS records and performs
his pieces. Frequencies, noises, field recordings, silence, minimalism are
words that have been used to describe his music.
He has
performed in several concerts and festivals of electronic music in Greece,
the Netherlands, the UK, France and Germany and has released 5 CDs. He has
composed music for short films. His music has been broadcasted in the
Netherlands, the UK, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Norway and Spain.
In October
2004 he launched the label “Echo Music”. So far 9 CD-Rs of contemporary and
experimental music have been released. He’s a member of the Centre Of
Contemporary Music Research. Since May, 2007 he’s been publishing articles
about experimental and underground music.
